Quran memorization plans by lines per day
Choosing a daily amount is the first decision in any hifz plan. Here is what common paces add up to.
Plans at five classes a week
| New lines per class (sabaq) | Classes per week | New lines per week | New memorization only, no breaks |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 lines | 5 days | 15 lines | about 604 weeks (~11.6 years) |
| 5 lines | 5 days | 25 lines | about 362 weeks (~7.0 years) |
| 7 lines | 5 days | 35 lines | about 259 weeks (~5.0 years) |
| 10 lines | 5 days | 50 lines | about 181 weeks (~3.5 years) |
| 15 lines (1 page) | 5 days | 75 lines | about 121 weeks (~2.3 years) |
These are plain arithmetic from 604 pages × 15 lines (the common Madani mushaf), counting new lessons only. Real timelines are longer because of revision-only weeks, holidays, tests and the student's own pace. They are estimates, not promises.
Choosing a starting pace
- 3–5 lines: a common start for young children or adults new to memorizing
- 7–10 lines: students who already read fluently and revise every day
- 1 page: experienced students with time for long daily revision
The teacher sets the pace after hearing the student in the trial classes. Raising the amount later is easier than repairing weak revision. See the hifz timeline and part-time options.
